Courtesy Patrol (night shift)

Optivest Properties is an industry leader and looking for high quality candidates to join our team. We pride ourselves on  INVESTING in our employees.

Join a team where YOU matter! See below how your experience and expertise can be utilized at Optivest Properties.

A Day in the Life….

The Courtesy Patrol provides overnight security for the self-storage or commercial facility and/or its occupants, providing peace of mind for our employees and clients. This person patrols the interior, exterior, and perimeter of the facility and common grounds to assist in protecting the assets of the property, reports any illegal or suspicious activities, and provides assistance to employees and clients.

You will patrol on foot and in a car, as well as watching the grounds via a closed-circuit television system. Depending on where you work, you may also answer phone calls, take messages and respond to requests and questions.

To prevent illegal entry and/or activity, the Courtesy Patrol will patrol the buildings and grounds and oversee who comes and goes from the premises.  The Courtesy Patrol may be asked to respond in emergency situations, verify a person’s identification and right to be on site, and keep detailed records of what happened during the overnight shift.  We do not expect the Courtesy Patrol to engage in confrontation, rather, to call the local police department if you notice suspicious activity. This is an unarmed position.

Customer Service

As the Courtesy Patrol, you may be the only person on site during the overnight shift, so you may also need to provide customer service.  Your duties may also include opening the facility in the morning, picking up trash, spills, or other hazards, observing and reporting policy violations and safety concerns.

The Courtesy Patrol must be available to work any night of the week, even on weekends and holidays. Depending on the location, your shift may start as late as 10 or 11 p.m. and end sometime after the sun has come up. You may also have to adapt your nightly routine to the situations that come up during your shift, such as someone trying to break in.  A tenant may ask you to help them access their unit.
