Staff Accountant

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant must possess excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, a proven track record of efficiency, and enthusiasm for learning and growing professionally.

 

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

Actively participate in period, quarter, and year-end accounting close including coordinating with property managers to review monthly transactions and reports

Processing Account Receivables (AR), Accounts Payables (AP), including deposit posting, processing invoices, issuing and posting checks

Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations

Analyze accounting results, investigate variances and document findings

Support the financial reporting process and communication of results

Help ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures

Adherence to critical accounting tax deadlines (Annual State & Federal as well as quarterly filings)

May be required to work overtime, especially during quarter and year-end

Other ad hoc functions as assigned

 

Education and Experience

 Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field

At least two years relevant accounting experience (Property Management or REIT experience is helpful)

Advanced proficiency in Excel

QuickBooks expertise is required (Sage is a plus!)

Strong relationship management and customer service skills - the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external clients to maximize performance and results

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to augment problem-solving, planning and analysis

Organized - with a keen attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency to deliver results

Self-motivated, quick learning, and resourceful team player, with a high level of integrity and dependability

Ability to recognize the need for, and implement, process improvements
